- On January 31, 2022 we received notice from the New York State Charities Bureau that our registration as a separate non-profit organization was complete.
- On March 3, 2022 we received notice from the IRS that we are now our own tax-exempt organization.
(As you may know, the national A.R.E. dissolved its relationship with all its subsidiaries, including A.R.E. of NY, about two years ago. That left us stripped of our non-profit status. We had to re-incorporate and re-apply for non-profit status. It was a long haul—but we’re back!) - Malcolm Smith returned to NYC in 2022 after years away due to COVID travel restrictions!
