That is part of the message of Swami Beyondananda, whose presentation I saw some years ago, at a conference at the national A.R.E. HQ in Virginia Beach.
Comedian Steve Bhaerman does his enlightening comedy routine in the persona of Swami Beyondananda.
This particular statement in his routine has always stayed with me:
“You are completely unique! …. Just like everyone else.”
It’s funny, profound—and true.
According to the Cayce readings, we are not these bodies. We are souls having an experience in these bodies. And what are our souls? They are little sparks of the Divine flame.
We are all part of God, and as such, we are all part of One Being. We ARE all one Being—and yet every one of us is completely unique.
According to Cayce, our purpose here is to be “companions and co-creators” with God. Each one of us is meant to have our own unique journey, which eventually brings us back to full awareness of our Oneness with God.
We are all sacred beings—every one of us. Even serial killers. Even people whose political opinions are different from our own.
Hard to believe, but important to remember.
And while we’re talking about the essence of who we are and why we’re here, it’s helpful to remember the essence and purpose of the Cayce work, according to the readings themselves:
“…This, then, should be first and foremost: The determined purpose…to have whole hearted cooperation, in a one-minded purpose, and that purpose to make manifest the love of God and man; man’s relation to man; man’s relation to God.”

As an organization and a Community, our purpose should be to express love to God and to one another, and to help each other grow in our relationship to the Divine and to our fellow Beings.
A good thing to remember as we move into the holiday season.
