This year, as we enter this sacred season of giving thanks and remembering the miracles of God’s love for us—we’re delighted to be able to offer the program, Secrets of the Essenes, with speaker Ed Foote on December 3.

Few people had even heard of the Essenes when Edgar Cayce’s readings began talking about them. Fascinating information about this sect of Jewish mystics came though in a number of Life Readings. Eventually, readings were requested and given specifically to answer questions about the Essenes. According to the readings, both Mary and Joseph were members of this sect and Jesus had his early education among the Essenes. Cayce’s readings add surprising details to the well-known Gospel stories of the birth of Jesus.

Cayce predicted the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls—and that event, which happened in 1947, is the reason the existence of the Essenes is common knowledge in our day—although much remains mysterious about the sect.

We hope you’ll join us to explore the inspiring story of this group—the Expectant Ones—whose faith and devotion over three centuries set the stage for the birth of Jesus.

If you find you want to know more about Edgar Cayce’s story of the Essenes, you might want to read The Remnant, by Mary LeCroix.

The book is a novel, but was based on Cayce’s readings about the Essene sect. It’s an excellent read—and although out of print, it’s available on Kindle. Used copies are also available.
