At our first meeting of 2018, we welcomed our newest Board Member Lin Kay Hunter to the start of her three-year term and elected Al de Marco to a three-year term. There is one other Board application pending.
We also elected officers for 2018:
New Treasurer Sought
Betty DiCandia continues to serve as Treasurer until we find a new Board Member who will take on that position. Knowledge of accounting, particularly for non-profits, is essential. It is helpful if the Treasurer can be more personally involved in Center activities. Betty remains on the Board through 2018 and will help us find and bring the new Treasurer up to speed. We are also fortunate to have on staff an excellent Bookkeeper Kristan Roehrs to handle day-to-day finances, essential support for our Treasurer.
Welcome new Board Members
Thanks for departing Board Members
Volunteers are the heart of our non-profit organization. Your service is vital to the well being of our Center’s community of seekers.
Valuable benefits after 3 months of good service include:
Support at our monthly Psychic Fairs organized by Lori Valente & Al de Marco. Next: Feb 17 & Mar 10. Those who capably serve will receive a free reading at each Fair (depending upon availability) or soon thereafter.
Some 50 kindred spirits gathered at our Center on Sunday, January 21, for a Memorial Celebration of Norman's inspiring life of service and music, hosted by Board Chair Sylvia Chappell.
The event was organized with assistance from Norman's niece Martha Curtis from Richmond, Va., and by ARE of NY volunteers Elizabeth Tomboulian and Kev O’Kane. We were joined by Norman’s stepson Mitchell Robinson from Arizona, and by other nieces, neighbors and friends from ARE-NY and other facets of his life who came together to make this tribute especially meaningful to all.
Elizabeth Tomboulian coordinated the musical tribute which featured a performance of one of her own songs, Rachel Epstein and members of the Kew Gardens Center Chorus singing Dr. Elyse Curtis’s inspiring song “You,” and a treasured recording of Norman playing keyboard and singing his song “Christmas Lights.”
Even though it’s not Christmas, we enjoyed hearing Norman sing this song, and think that you will, too.
Family and friends shared heart-warming, and often humorous, memories. Paul Dorogoff and the Prayers For Healing Group closed the occasion with a meditation and prayers for Norman and Elyse.
At the family’s request, donations in Norman's memory may be sent to the A.R.E. of New York Edgar Cayce Center, 153 W. 27 St., #702, New York, NY 10001. Please make out checks to "A.R.E. of New York." Or donate online at this link. Thank you.
