March 21, the Spring Equinox, will also be the first International Day of Play!

Conceived by UNIFY, an organization that conducts Global Synchronized Meditations and Collective Social Impact Campaigns to help create peace on Earth, Play Day is a new event designed to bring people together in joyful, peaceful ways.

They describe Play Day as “a fun occasion aimed at inspiring people of all ages to awaken the inner kid in all of us!”

“We believe that play has the power to bring people together and heal division. Our goal is to encourage play and, through that play, to build genuine connection, curiosity, and joy in all aspects of our lives…”

Their statement reads, in part: “As humans, it is essential that we give ourselves permission to play, at every stage of our life. Children, adults, families, schools, and businesses can create impactful healing and betterment in their communities by arranging playtime for themselves and others around them. Whether it’s running, jumping, dancing, or simply enjoying nature, we have this opportunity to explore the therapeutic value of play, and ramp up the fun!”

Edgar Cayce would agree. In reading after reading, he encouraged seekers to include recreation and play in their lives—and particularly to do so outdoors. That’s also part of the idea of Play Day—to get outside for one hour, if at all possible, away from the computer screens and other devices—and restore yourself with whatever form of play works for you. If you can go out and play with friends, family, colleagues or complete strangers, that’s even better.

The Cayce readings even suggest that more play may make us more fit for work. “ Well that the body play more, else the work will be found less.”
