On Maya Tiwari
Having served more than a quarter century as a Vedic monk, belonging to India’s prestigious Veda Vyasa lineage, Maya Tiwari has been praised as a World Peace Leader by the Parliament of the World’s Religions for her outstanding work in creating inner harmony, health and wellness in the world. Maya’s time-tested ability to inspire and create change in human behavior and understanding is a matter of flawless record from the past 27 years of her devout work in the United States and around the world. She also recently received the Rishi Award from AAPNA for her outstanding work in Ayurveda. In November, 2010, Mother made the decision to renounce her monastic title and spiritual moniker—Her Holiness, Sri Swami Mayatitananda—and, as she puts it, “walk a simpler and more accessible life in service of the populations in need.”
She is the embodiment of peace, and a spiritual pioneer who serves humanity through her award-winning work by awakening the spirit of ahimsa, harmony, in every person whose life she touches. She works from the trenches of the inner cities to the halls of the privileged, transcending cultural and social barriers. Her revolutionary work in spiritual healing education has served scores of at-risk communities in Guyana, and the United States. Maya tirelessly guides and educates humanity with her charitable holistic work through hundreds of venues around the world. For more than two decades, she has been addressing large audiences and training thousands of volunteer instructors to help serve hundreds of communities. In her work through Wise Earth School and Mother OM Mission, she pioneered the Inner Medicine® health and spirituality programs based in Ayurveda; as well as the Living Ahimsa® work that is deeply based in the principle of inner harmony, honoring the sanctity of all beings, all species, nature and her sacred resources. Maya’s work with Living Ahimsa is a universal path to inner harmony and non-hurting brings with it a renewed sense of joy, freedom, and stability for all.

Maya’s Keynote Presentation at the 2009 Parliament of the World’s Religions, in Melbourne, Australia alongside the Dalai Lama and other great men and women of faith, had a dramatic impact on the consciousness of each of its participants. She eloquently addressed the theme of global reconciliation through the lens of her Living Ahimsa work: “By cultivating personal awareness of ahimsa we can find a common language that needs no words—a communion centered in the heart of oneness. If each one of us makes a commitment to inner harmony, we will surely succeed in achieving the ultimate goal of our human destiny—that of a spiritual freedom that unites us. Ultimately, it is the work of awareness within the individual person that will change the world for the better.” For information on Maya’s Itinerary and Living Ahimsa World Tour visit: www.ahimsalife.com ~ www.mayatiwari.org ~ www.facebook.com/MayaTiwari
