On July 9th, 1934, Edgar Cayce gave an ordinary check physical reading (if anything Cayce did could be called ordinary). But at the end of the reading, something unique happened. A group of Cayce’s deceased relatives and friends came through. Edgar Cayce had an animated conversation with them. For the others in the room at the time, it was like listening to one side of a telephone conversation. They heard Cayce’s responses, not the various voices he was hearing from the other side—but Mildred Davis, acting as stenographer, dutifully noted down everything Edgar Cayce said.
Gladys Davis, who was conducting the reading, asked Cayce to repeat the message he was hearing. Here is part of the message from Gertrude Cayce’s brother, Hugh Evans:
“We are on that plane where you have heard it spoken of that the body, the mind, are one with those things we have builded. Yes, I still play baseball, and Charlie has recently joined my club….”
More of the message: “Mama and Dr. House and Uncle Porter and the baby—we are all here. Grandpa has built the home here, and it’s NICE! And we are all waiting until you come, and we will all be here ready—we are getting along FINE, doing WELL, yes!”
Who knew that people played baseball and built houses on “the other side”? You have to wonder if W. P. Kinsella, who wrote the novel on which the movie Field of Dreams was based, was aware of this Cayce reading.
The book Testimony of Light: An Extraordinary Message of Life After Death, describes this realm of thought-forms as the first stage most of us encounter after leaving the body. The houses and baseball fields are not “real” in the sense of physical reality, but are just as real to those living there as our homes and ballparks are to us.
