Ever felt frustrated because you believed you could do something great and important if only you had the funds, the training, the resources, etc?
Since the iconic movie, The Secret came out in 2006, most of us have become familiar with the “Law of Attraction.” The essence of the law is that what you believe in, focus on, and expect—will come to you. This was never really a secret, since it’s in the Bible and other scriptures: “As you have believed, so will it be done for you.” (Matthew 8:13)
There’s another, related law of abundance that we can sum up this way: “Use what you have and more will be given.”
There’s a catch, however. This only works if you use what you have in service to something bigger than yourself—somehow serving the Universe. You benefit as you serve, but your focus must be service. Here’s an example:
Mother Teresa, the world-renowned nun who worked among the poor and dying in Calcutta, saw that most poor children were not in school and could not afford education. She began to teach children outdoors under a tree, writing in the dirt, since it was what she had to write on. Each day more children came. Then donors began to bring books, paper, pencils—and finally funds for a school building.
The important element is doing. You may start small, but you can begin on some level, in some way. Abundance comes in many forms, and spiritual growth is one of them.
Of course, this Law isn’t really a secret either. It’s in the Bible as well: “To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given.” (Luke, 19:26)
The Universe, it seems, is inclined to give resources, opportunity and growth to those who serve. “Begin where you are,” as the Cayce readings also advised, but begin.
