Be a Companion to God is the December lesson in the national A.R.E.’s monthly Enlightenment Series

Cayce’s answer to the question, “Why am I here?” is this—to be a companion to the Most High.

The purpose of this and all our incarnations is to develop to that level where we are suitable companions for the Creator of the Universe—an awesome calling.

It’s our Soul self—that which is eternal within us—that is to be a companion to God. But that companionship and the role of Co-Creator, can begin while we are still in this physical body on this material plane. How?

John Van Auken, author of the Enlightenment Lessons, writes: 

“We must come to know ourselves to be individuals and yet use our wills to choose to cooperate with the Creative Forces and the Universal Consciousness. When asked to teach us how this may be done, [Cayce] taught that mind is the bridge, the way to comprehending and blending the finite with the infinite. He taught that our minds are both material and spiritual, and can therefore comprehend spirituality while living in materiality. How is this done? It is intuitive. He taught we need to budget time in our material lives to enter into introspection, into reflection. He said that while in those moments the connection would naturally grow and eventually become a regular condition. Sitting in quiet reflection for 15 to 20 minutes or more is the means to companionship.”

Daily meditation practice is the key, the bridge to knowing ourselves for the spiritual beings we are and knowing the Divine as our true companion—or as some of the spiritual poets would say—our Beloved.
